Medium:

Christina Cary is a talented composer and singer-songwriter who specializes in piano and voice, and dabbles in guitar and production. Christina trained on classical piano, and is heavily influenced by nouveau folk, alt-country, anti-folk, with hip-hop, funk, 70s music, and rock playing their part as well. To put it mildly, she has very eclectic musical tastes, blending genres within her music. Most who have heard her have likened her Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell, though she occasionally gets compared to Rufus Wainwright. Her music is lyric-driven and original. Currently in her third year at Canterbury Christ Church University, she is pursuing a BA degree in Commercial Music.

Long:

From early on in Christina Cary's childhood, it was apparent that music would play a large part in her life. The movie 'Electric Dreams', about a computer that becomes alive and composes music for a woman it loves, made an impression that would prove to last, cultivating a love for music which lead to her interests in piano, voice, composition, guitar and trumpet. Born and raised in Texas, Christina studied classical piano from age nine to nineteen with the Stephen F. Austin State University's Music Preparatory Division, based in Texas. Joining the band, she played trumpet and at the age of 14, began composing on piano. Christina's love of music pushed her further to take composition/voice lessons and trumpet lessons outside of school , then went on to university to major in Piano Performance, but not being happy in pursuing a classical degree, she left shortly. Several years later, after moving to England, Christina Cary began to pursue a BA degree in Commercial Music, currently in her third year at Canterbury Christ Church University. Heavily influenced by nouveau folk, alt-country, anti-folk, as well as hip-hop, funk, 70s music, and rock and roll. To put it mildly, she has very eclectic musical tastes, blending genres within her music. Most who have heard her have likened her Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell, though she occasionally gets compared to Rufus Wainwright. Her music is lyric-driven and original.
